Totes for decluttering and seasonal resets at home

A decluttering project or a seasonal reset goes faster when you have plenty of sturdy containers on hand. STORVA rents totes delivered to your home for short projects. They stay at your place the whole time — we don't store anything — and we pick them up after you've emptied them.

Important: STORVA does not store anything

STORVA is not a storage company and does not offer storage units. We drop empty totes off at your home or business, the packed totes stay at your place the whole time, and we pick the totes up only after you've emptied them. Rentals can run up to 12 weeks in total, with extension rates listed on the pricing page.

A simple decluttering method

  1. Pick one room or zone.
  2. Set out totes labeled Keep, Donate, Sell and Undecided.
  3. Handle each item once and put it straight into a tote.
  4. Take Donate totes' contents to donation the same week.
  5. Revisit Undecided after a couple of weeks — if you didn't miss it, let it go.

Holiday and seasonal resets

Swapping decor for a holiday, rotating seasonal clothes or reorganizing a closet often means everything is out at once. Short-term totes give you somewhere to put things while you reorganize. Because rentals have a pickup date, this works best for a reset project rather than year-round keeping — for that, buying your own bins makes more sense.

Before a move or listing

Decluttering before a move means fewer things to pack. Before listing a home, clearing counters and closets helps rooms photograph well. See our home staging page for more.

Keeping the project moving

  • Work in short sessions — an hour a day beats one exhausting weekend.
  • Schedule donation pickups in advance so you have a deadline.
  • Keep packed totes stacked out of walkways.
  • Plan your pickup date around when the project will be done.

Rental length

Rentals can run up to 12 weeks in total. If you need containers longer than that, buying your own bins or using a storage unit is a better fit.

Room-by-room decluttering tips

Kitchens: clear out duplicates and gadgets you don't use. Closets: try the hanger trick — turn hangers backward and see what you actually wear. Kids' rooms: involve kids in choosing toys to donate. Garages: sort into keep, donate, recycle and dispose, and handle hazardous items through your city's disposal options.

Bathrooms: toss expired products and medications using safe disposal options. Home offices: shred old papers you're no longer required to keep and digitize what you can.

Take photos of sentimental items you're letting go — it often makes the decision easier.
